I’m Patrik, a software engineer with professional experience starting in 2007.
I’ve worked from Bologna, Den Haag, Zürich, Stuttgart, and Padua, across banking, energy, automotive, enterprise software, and open source. I’ve done extensive consulting work for major companies in Europe. Today I’m a Senior Staff Engineer at Infineon Technologies.
My work spans web applications, web services and APIs, desktop applications, tools for developers, software modeling, and AI integration.
What I’ve built
- Academy — University of Bologna. Developed an interactive, Eclipse-based graphical editor for modeling cryptographic systems , used to teach Computer Security to M.Sc Engineering students.
- Banking and healthcare — CRIF, CSE, Dedalus. Built web services, databases, and application features for bank workflows and clinical systems running in production in Italy and abroad.
- Energy — Shell. Co-led development of a suite of modular desktop applications for oil and gas well engineering: Java, Eclipse RCP, Hibernate.
- Wealth management — UBS. Built and extended financial investment tools and web applications for a major Swiss bank.
- Autonomous driving — Bosch. Contributed to a middleware platform for autonomous driving, including substantial performance work.
- Modeling and embedded systems — VW, Canon. Implemented specialised modeling tools built on DSLs and projectional editing: design, modeling, and migration of LIN/CAN/Ethernet communication models in AUTOSAR-derived systems, and digital-twin representations of complex embedded systems.
- Blockchain — Cardano. Designed and built decentralised applications and layer-2 communication integration.
- Consulting — including the United Nations and the Eclipse Foundation. Independent work analysing existing systems, solving hard legacy problems, and delivering new applications for international clients.
- Developer tooling — Infineon. I work on tooling and core application infrastructure for the automotive microcontroller development lifecycle.
Open Source
I’ve been building in the open since 2012
- Eclipse — Contributor and then committer on the Eclipse Platform and the Eclipse IDE, the tooling behind a large share of professional Java and embedded development. The work also took me to international conferences as a speaker. Commits – Bugzilla – Talks and to start with consulting.
- Cardano — Co-founder of Cardano-After-Dark, a collective building decentralized applications in the open on Cardano, funded through Project Catalyst in multiple following rounds.
- Prosedown — VS Code extension for block-based rich editing of Markdown. Marketplace
Professional Focus
I am good at extracting requirements from an idea, quickly implementing PoCs and MVPs. I enjoy taking on different architectural decisions and go to production considering deployment and security risks.
I work mainly with Java, TypeScript and Python for building Applications, Frontends, Backends, Tooling, and AI integrations.
— DELETE BELOW —
My expertise centers on Java development, typically with Spring backends, classic web frontends, or more complex desktop frontends (e.g. Swing, Eclipse RCP/SWT). In addition, I have a solid command of Python, TypeScript, SQL, Bash, and HTML, which I typically use in automations, integrations, or UIs.
To complete the figure, I have a solid grasp of Git and Agile/Scrum workflows and tools, and I’m very comfortable with algorithms, model-based engineering, and design patterns.
